What the currency actually is, and why the name matters
Forsaken does not have "coins." The currency is Player Points, usually shortened to PP by the community, and it is what you spend in the shop to unlock Characters and their Skins. The distinction is not pedantry: search for Forsaken coin codes or coin multipliers and you will find pages describing systems this game has never had, because they were written for a different title and relabelled. Forsaken has no code-redemption system for currency, no coin multiplier item, and no purchasable pack that doubles earnings. Every Player Point you own came from playing rounds.
Points are awarded for the things the round wants you to do rather than for time served. Completing a layer of a generator puzzle pays 5 PP and 15 EXP. Finishing all four layers of a single generator therefore pays 20 PP before any other action. Survivor-side actions that help the team — healing, stunning the killer, taking a hit that saves someone — each carry their own award, and killer-side eliminations pay on the same principle. Sitting in a corner surviving to the clock pays very little, which is deliberate.
This is the most common way players waste an afternoon. Player Points are not earned in private servers. Private servers are genuinely useful for practising routes, learning a killer ability timing, and testing generator patterns without pressure, but the economy is switched off there. If the goal for a session is unlocking a character, that session has to happen in public matchmaking.
The honest maths on earning rate
A four-minute round with a full generator completed and a couple of assists lands most players in the low tens of Player Points, not the thousands. Any guide promising ten thousand per hour is describing a game that does not exist. Planning against the real rate is more useful anyway, because it changes what you optimise: you stop hunting for a mythical multiplier and start reducing the number of rounds where you earn nothing at all.
You earn nothing meaningful in a round where you die early without touching a generator, and nothing at all in a private server. Cutting those two categories is worth more than any trick. Committing to one generator early, even if you die afterwards, converts a zero round into a paying one, because the per-layer award has already banked.
The same actions pay both, but they are spent differently. Player Points buy new characters. EXP accrues per character and unlocks that character milestone Skin at level 25, continuing to level 100 where it caps. Grinding one character you already own builds EXP toward skins but does not get you closer to the next character; spreading play across characters does the opposite. Decide which you actually want before a long session.
Pro Tip
Touch a generator in the first thirty seconds of every round, before you know where the killer is. The per-layer award banks immediately, so even a round that ends badly has paid something. Players who scout first and commit later routinely finish rounds having earned nothing, because the payout is tied to layers completed and not to how long you stayed alive.
What to spend Player Points on first
The roster is priced in tiers, which makes the first purchase a real decision rather than a formality. Several survivors sit at 500 Player Points, including 007n7, Two Time and Guest 1337. Chance is priced at 777 to match his gambling theme. On the killer side John Doe is 1,000 and Noli is 1,100. Since three survivors and two killers are already free, you can learn every class before spending anything, and most players get more out of doing that than out of rushing a purchase.
These are separate tracks and only one of them is affected by what you buy. Player Points unlock new characters. EXP accrues on whichever character you are playing and unlocks that character milestone Skin at level 25, continuing to a cap at level 100. If you want skins, play one character; if you want roster breadth, spread out. Doing both at once is slower than either.
The systems your earnings sit inside
Earning efficiently means understanding both what pays and what the payments are for, because the two progression tracks are spent on completely different things.
A round is four minutes long. Survivors win by outlasting it and killers extend it by eliminating people, so the only lever survivors control is the generators. On most maps there are five, each a Numberlink wire puzzle four layers deep. A completed layer removes three seconds from the clock and pays 5 Player Points and 15 EXP; a finished generator removes twelve seconds; clearing all five removes a full minute. Crucially the puzzle regenerates if you are interrupted, so unbanked layers are lost entirely rather than paused. Two maps, SFOTH and Generator Hell, have no generators at all, which removes the lever completely and turns those rounds into pure survival against the clock.
The roster is fixed-ability rather than build-based. Survivors come in three classes: Survivalists Noob (free) and 007n7 (500 Player Points) look after themselves; Sentinels Shedletsky (free), Two Time and Guest 1337 (500 each) and Chance (777) interfere with the killer directly; and Elliot (free) is the only Support. Killers are c00lkidd and Slasher (both free), John Doe (1,000) and Noli (1,100). Because there are no perks and no loadouts, picking a character is picking your role for the entire round, and nothing you unlock later changes how an existing character plays.
Common questions
Questions that come up repeatedly about this topic, answered against how the game actually works rather than how similar games work.
No. Forsaken has no code-redemption system of any kind. Pages listing working codes are describing a feature the game has never implemented, and that is a reliable signal to distrust the rest of the page. Every Player Point is earned by playing public matches.
No. Private servers award no Player Points at all. They are genuinely useful for learning map layouts and practising ability timings without pressure, but nothing you do in one moves your shop balance.
Neither role has a built-in multiplier. Both are paid for contribution: survivors bank 5 Player Points and 15 EXP per generator puzzle layer plus awards for helping the team, and killers are paid on eliminations and pressure. Play whichever you are better at, because a round you contribute to pays more than a role you are theoretically faster in.
Not by much on its own. Payment tracks contribution rather than survival time, which is why a player who banks two generator layers and then dies typically out-earns one who hid for four minutes.
