Jane Doe is the only survivor you cannot buy. You have to go find her in the Cabin basement and earn her — and that alone makes her the most-asked-about character on the roster. Every other Forsaken survivor is a shop purchase. Jane Doe is a quest. You talk to her in the Cabin basement, complete what she asks, and only then can you play as her. That unlock path is why she generates so many searches and so much bad information: guides that assume a Player Point price are guessing. This page covers how she is actually obtained, what her Crystal Pitch and Hatchet abilities do, how her Sentinel role differs from Guest 1337's, and the story that connects her directly to the game's most famous killer.

How to Unlock Jane Doe

This is the part most people came for, so it goes first. Jane Doe is not in the shop. There is no Player Point price for her, and no amount of grinding currency will make her appear in your inventory.

Find her in the Cabin basement

The Lobby in Forsaken is a small island of cabins surrounded by forest, and it contains NPCs you can interact with between rounds. Jane Doe is one of them. You need to go down into the Cabin basement and talk to her — that conversation is what opens her quest line. If you have been standing in the lobby queuing for matches without exploring, you have walked past her unlock more times than you realise.

Complete her quests

After talking to her, you complete her quests to obtain her. The wiki documents the unlock method rather than a full step list, and we would rather point you at the in-game quest text than invent objectives that might not match your version — quest content is exactly the kind of thing that shifts between patches. Talk to her, read what she asks for, and work through it. If your quest steps differ from what a guide claims, trust the game.

Why the unlock is designed this way

It fits her story. Jane Doe is a researcher and investigator inside the fiction, so making players go and find her — in a basement, in the dark, off the main path — is thematically consistent. It also means every Jane Doe you meet in a match went looking for her, which is a nice bit of signalling in a game where most characters are a purchase away.

Crystal Pitch and Hatchet: A Sentinel Who Escalates

Jane Doe is classified as a Sentinel, the same class as Guest 1337, but she plays nothing like him. Where he interposes himself physically, she builds up pressure over time and then converts it.

Crystal Pitch builds status effects

Her Crystal Pitch applies status effects to the Killer — she is one of the clearest examples of Forsaken's status system being used offensively by a survivor. Status effects in Forsaken can change damage taken, alter stats like HP or speed, affect damage output, or change what a player perceives. Crystal Pitch is your setup tool: you are stacking a problem onto the killer rather than solving your own immediately.

Hatchet converts and sustains

The Hatchet is the payoff. It lets Jane stun the killer and heal herself — a rare combination on a single ability, because it means her defensive and offensive tools share a button rather than competing for attention. Crucially, Crystal Pitch can level up her axe to deal larger attacks, so the two abilities are a loop rather than two separate tools: pitch to build, hatchet to cash in.

What this means in a chase

Jane rewards patience in a way most survivors do not. The instinct when a killer commits to you is to spend everything immediately; Jane's kit says build first, then convert. Her wiki description notes her abilities let her attack the killer multiple times, landing significant damage and allowing other Survivors to escape — which places her squarely as a team-enabling character even though she is the one holding the axe.

Pro Tip

Because Hatchet both stuns and heals, resist using it purely as a panic button. A stun spent on a killer who was about to lose you anyway is a heal you did not get. Read whether the chase is genuinely lost before converting.

The Story: Jane, John, and What Happened at Roblox HQ

Jane Doe has one of the most developed narratives on the roster, and it directly intersects with John Doe — Forsaken's signature killer. If you play or face John Doe, her story is worth knowing.

A tester whose husband disappeared

Jane was a retired tester who worked at ROBLOX and left after her husband went missing as something grew out of the servers at Roblox HQ. She and John Doe both worked for the Roblox Admins on faulty code, with Jane working on focus missions. That shared workplace is the seed for everything that follows — including the March 18th rumours that grew up around the pair.

The investigation

After John's disappearance, rumour blamed Jane for it, and she was nicknamed "mold girl" after a black substance began growing around the house. She investigated the disappearance alone, stumbling onto things like the Spawn Cult, and eventually worked out that John had been taken to the realm of The Spectre. Then she followed him into it. She did not get Forsaken by accident — she went in deliberately, which makes her unique among the survivors.

What she found inside

On entering she found herself in a kind of scrapyard serving as a waiting room: broken rigs, models, assets and other objects left to rot, forever forgotten. Being a researcher, she started documenting everything she could about the realm. The wiki notes she wrote files about her findings — which is a rare case of a character inside the fiction doing the same job the wiki itself does.

How she carries it

She became obsessive about finding her husband, and now tries her best to help the others — even those she dislikes — while her research continues. Visually she carries the story: a black trenchcoat and brim hat, a shoulder bag with a Roblox icon, and her marriage ring hanging from the bag's zipper. She wields a fire axe and a jar with a red crystal inside.

Jane Doe FAQ

The questions that actually get searched about Jane Doe.

How do you get Jane Doe in Forsaken?

Talk to her in the Cabin basement in the Lobby, then complete her quests. She cannot be bought with Player Points like other survivors.

Is Jane Doe a killer?

No — she is a Sentinel Survivor. Her husband John Doe is the killer. The pairing confuses a lot of players, and several guide sites (including this one, before our July 2026 audit) listed her incorrectly on the killer roster.

When was Jane Doe added?

The March 19, 2026 update. She is one of the newer additions to the roster, which is part of why accurate information about her is comparatively scarce.

Is Jane Doe good?

She is strong in the hands of players who can hold a chase long enough to build Crystal Pitch stacks before converting with Hatchet. She is weak for players who panic-spend abilities. Because she is quest-locked rather than bought, her player base skews more experienced, which tends to make her look better in match data than a purely mechanical read would suggest.

Final Thoughts

Jane Doe is the roster's investigator: quest-locked rather than purchased, built around a build-then-convert loop of Crystal Pitch into Hatchet, and tied directly into the game's central mystery through her missing husband. Go find her in the Cabin basement, work through her quests, and play her patiently — her kit punishes the panic that most survivors are allowed to get away with.

  • • Sentinel Survivor — unlocked by quests, not bought with Player Points
  • • Talk to her in the Cabin basement to start the unlock
  • • Crystal Pitch applies status effects and levels up her axe
  • • Hatchet stuns the killer and heals her — build first, then convert
  • • Added March 19, 2026; wife of John Doe, entered the realm deliberately
  • • She is a survivor, not a killer, despite common misinformation
