How many killers are in Forsaken? Eight. There are eight playable killers: John Doe, 1x1x1x1, c00lkidd, Nosferatu, Noli, Slasher, Guest 666 and Azure, the newest, added in update 5.0.0 "Azure's Wrath". Other pages say 7, 12 or 24 because they are counting something else, or counting before Azure. That count comes straight from the source: the Official Forsaken Wiki's Characters page (https://forsaken.wiki/Characters, read 15 October 2026) lists exactly those eight under Killers. Eight is the roster you can be assigned in a public round, and it is the roster our stats and tier pages track. Older pages say seven because they predate Azure. The larger numbers you see elsewhere usually come from the wiki's Killers category, which holds 24 character articles because it also files exclusive characters only the developers can play, scrapped characters that were cut, and potential characters that have been announced but not released. This page gives you the eight with the wiki's playstyle labels and stats, explains exactly where the other counts come from, and covers the questions that usually follow: how many survivors there are, which killers are free, and whether the number is going up.

Why you will see 7, 8, 12 and 24 as the answer
Several different numbers circulate for the same question, and each comes from counting a different thing, or from counting before the last update. Knowing which is which saves you from arguing with a page that is technically correct about a different list.
Eight — the playable roster (seven before 5.0.0)
These are the killers on the wiki's Characters page under Killers, each with a full stat block. They are the killers every tier list ranks and the only ones a player can be given in a public round. The roster was seven until update 5.0.0 "Azure's Wrath" added Azure, a shop killer bought with 2,000 Player Points like the others, not a collaboration or event character. Any page still saying seven was written before that update. When someone asks how many killers Forsaken has in the sense of "how many can I expect to play as or against," eight is the honest number.
Twenty-four — the wiki category
When we read the Official Forsaken Wiki's Killers category on 15 October 2026, it held 24 character articles alongside sandboxes, strategy pages and sub-categories. Only eight of those are playable. The rest fall into the groups the wiki itself uses. Exclusive killers, which the Characters page says are "only playable by the game's development team and contributors": BRIMSTONE, Cat, Doppelganger, Erlking, Friday The 13th Slasher, Herobrine, Sancho, Sixer Hunt and Sukuna appear in the category. Scrapped characters, which were cut: Gubby, Jason and Flowers. Potential characters, announced but not released: ITrapped, MrDoomBringer, Zombie King and The Stalker, who is the next planned killer. A category page counts articles, not roster slots, so the figure is real but it is not the number you will meet in a match.
Twelve — a number that got stuck
Several pages have carried "All 12 Forsaken Killers" in their titles while their own bodies listed seven. Twelve matches the number of survivors on the main roster before Helperbot joined as the 13th on 16 October 2026, and it appears to have been copied into headlines from there and never re-checked. It does not match the playable killer roster or the wiki category. If you see twelve elsewhere, treat it as a stale headline rather than a third roster.
Jason and Slasher are not two killers
The wiki keeps a separate page for Jason, who used to be the first killer players received. In update 3.1.0 Jason was removed and replaced with Slasher, which the wiki describes as a redesigned and original version of him made because of copyright concerns. Jason now sits under Scrapped characters. Friday The 13th Slasher is a different entry again, listed among the exclusive killers. Only Slasher is playable today.

How the roster shapes a round
Knowing there are eight matters less than knowing what eight kits do to the game. Every Forsaken round is one killer against everyone else in the server (up to eight survivors in a full nine-player server) on a round clock of 3 minutes with four or fewer players, 3:30 with five, and 4 minutes with six or more. Survivors win by outlasting it and shorten it by completing generator puzzles: five 7x7 puzzles per generator, each taking 2.4 seconds off the clock, so a finished generator removes 12 seconds and all five remove a full minute. The killer extends the clock by 40 seconds per kill. Which of the eight you face changes how that tug of war plays out.
Three broad approaches across eight killers
The wiki's playstyle tags group the eight loosely. John Doe and Azure are both Trapper / Setplay: John Doe leaves a corruption trail and plants false shadows with Digital Footprint, and Azure plants Seeker Bulbs and Stigmatize Vines that trigger when a survivor sprints or uses an ability nearby. 1x1x1x1 (Ranged / Attrition) and c00lkidd (Versatile) work at range with projectiles and aura reveals. Nosferatu is the ambush and stealth killer, with silent movement and an invisible dash, and Noli is the rushdown and deception specialist whose kit applies Hallucination. Slasher is labelled Attrition and Guest 666 Burst / Snowball, the killer with the roster's highest conventionally listed health. A survivor who knows which approach is in the round already knows what to watch for.
What a killer cannot bring
None of the eight can be modified. Forsaken has no perks, no loadouts and no equippable items for killers, so a character's abilities are fixed and choosing a killer is choosing a complete playstyle. That is also why the count is meaningful: eight killers means eight distinct approaches to the same round-clock problem, not eight skins on one kit. Skins exist, but they are cosmetic. It is worth saying plainly because guides written for other asymmetric horror games describe perk builds, pallets, hooks and exit gates, none of which exist here.
Where the exclusive killers fit
Exclusive killers are real characters with their own wiki pages, and several of them can be played in private servers by owners of the VIP gamepass; update 5.0.0 added Sixer Hunt to that VIP pool and removed Sancho and Erlking. They are still not part of the answer to "how many killers are there" for a normal player, because the wiki describes them as gimmicky, unbalanced and not intended for public servers, and private servers do not award Player Points. How to check the current roster yourself
Roster counts change when updates add characters, so it is worth knowing how to verify the number rather than trusting any page, including this one, indefinitely. Two places on the wiki settle it in under a minute, and they answer slightly different questions.
The Characters page answers "what can I play"
The wiki's Characters page sorts everything into Survivors, Killers, Exclusive, Non-playable characters and links to Scrapped and Potential pages. Count the cards under the Killers heading and you have the playable roster. In October 2026 that heading holds eight cards. When The Stalker releases, a ninth card will appear there.
The update log answers "what changed"
The wiki's update log pages record each version's changes, which is how you can see that Azure arrived in 5.0.0 and that Jason was replaced by Slasher in 3.1.0. If a guide's count disagrees with the Characters page, the update log usually explains why: the guide was written before a particular version.
Why the category count misleads
The Killers category is the complete record of every killer-type character the wiki has a page for, including ones that were cut and ones that are only planned. It is the right place to identify an unfamiliar name you saw in a video, and the wrong place to count the current roster, because cut and upcoming characters stay filed there.
If a guide gives you a killer count, check whether it also lists the names. A page that says "12 killers" and then names seven has copied its headline from somewhere else, and a page that lists Gubby or Zombie King as playable has copied a category page without reading it. The names are harder to fake than the number, which is why this page leads with them.

How many survivors are in Forsaken?
Thirteen on the main roster, per the Official Forsaken Wiki's Characters page, Helperbot having joined as the 13th on 16 October 2026, plus six exclusive survivors that ordinary players cannot pick. Three survivors are free from the start (Noob, Shedletsky and Elliot), Jane Doe is unlocked through her lobby-basement quest, and the rest are bought with Player Points. Survivors are grouped into three classes: Survivalists (Noob, 007n7, Veeronica), Sentinels who interfere with the killer directly (Shedletsky, Chance, Guest 1337, Two Time, Jane Doe), and Supports (Elliot, Builderman, Taph, Dusekkar, Helperbot). Which killers are free in Forsaken?
Two of the eight: c00lkidd and Slasher. Both are complete kits rather than trial versions. Learning the role on one of them before spending 1,000 Player Points on John Doe or 1,100 on Noli, or saving 2,000 for Azure, is the sensible order.
Is the number of killers going up?
Yes. The roster was seven until update 5.0.0 "Azure's Wrath" added Azure, and the wiki lists The Stalker as the next planned killer, coming in the major update "Intermission - Leader of Lies" alongside The Ringmaster, an upcoming survivor. Until The Stalker actually ships, the count is eight. When a new killer lands, it will appear on the Forsaken Killers hub and in our tier list at Forsaken Tier List, which carries a dated changelog of every roster and balance change we have verified.

Forsaken has eight playable killers (John Doe, 1x1x1x1, c00lkidd, Nosferatu, Noli, Slasher, Guest 666 and Azure), and that is the number to plan around. Seven was correct until 5.0.0 added Azure. The wiki's 24 is a category count that includes exclusive, scrapped and potential characters; the 12 you may have seen in headlines is a stale figure that never matched the game. Two of the eight are free, all eight have fixed abilities with no perks or loadouts, and every one of them plays the same round clock against the rest of the server.
